Why do we associate biology with sports activity ?

The biological follow-up of the sportsman sticks to 2 objectives :
  • 1) Improving the performance :
    - By improving the composition and the operating of the living matter, to make it more tonic and reactive in the effort, Membrane Fatty Acids, Amino Acids, Mineral, Elements traces, Vitamins B, Vitamins E and Carotenoides are proportioned in blood.
    - By monitoring the training and the competitions and by measuring their effects : Hypoxanthine as a marker of energy fatigue, Allantoine as a result from oxydative stress, 3méthylhistidine and N-Acétyl-Putrescine as markers of loss or gain of muscle.

  • 2) Protecting the metabolism : Traumatic accidents and - in a longer term - an aging accelerated by the increase of oxidative damage, threaten the sportsman. The attack of the locomotor apparatus is evaluated by measuring fragments of bony and tendon collagens : Hydroxylysine, Galactosyl-hydroxylysine, Deoxypyridinoline. The oxidative corrosion is largely "covered" by the exceptional range of markers of the oxidative stress, which the Laboratory Philippe Auguste offers.
